These kits usually contain few tools that will help treat cuts, scrapes, injuries including wrenches, burns, few supplies like painkillers for common weaknesses. You don’t have to go over the top to organize your first aid kit, you could put together your personal kit using a listing of common items. Or if you don’t want it to be a DIY project, there are many options available on the Internet. The key point of owning a first aid box is to make it accessible so that if there is an emergency situation, anyone is able to find and open it.

These on-hand kits have some of the main items on how to treat certain conditions. For starter, there are wraps in case of a sprain, tea bag paper or label paper, gauze to cover open wounds, medical tape to keep a wrap or a gauze on the skin, Band-Aids for minor cuts and scrapes, rubbing alcohol or sanitizer to clean, any common antibiotic cream and a painkiller. The list goes on, depending on needs and who is using them. Injuries can happen to any of us, we can’t keep our loved ones’ always safe but we can protect them with a first aid kit and right know-how in case they get injured.

Different types of medical tapes are often part of first aid kits, but most of the time we are unable to differentiate between these tapes and their usage. Here are few examples of Medical Tapes that you should know.

1. Micropore Paper Tape

Paper Tape is mostly used to protect dressings and bandages. It has a hypoallergenic adhesive which removes easily from the skin without damage. It is designed to hold firmly onto the skin, dressing materials, and underlying layers of tape. This type of medical tape also has tiny holes or micropores which permits air to circulate, to make it breathable. Paper tapes are usually made from non-stretch paper pulp and adhesive.

2.  Transpore Polyethylene Tape

Transpore tape is a hypo-allergenic, translucent and surgical tape. It offers strong adhesion for multiple purposes. This tape is easy and simple to tear into strips and it can also be used while wearing gloves. For securing medical tubing and dressings that need a stronger hold, this type of tape is perfect. It also allows moisture to vaporize away from the skin while remaining breathable and is usually made from non-stretch transparent polyethylene film.

3.  Zinc Oxide Tape

Zinc Oxide, also known as Strapping Tape or Sports Tape, is widely used to prevent sports injuries and soft tissue damage. It protects wounds and helps cuts heal faster. It is also helpful to support muscles to alleviate injured ligaments. Zinc Oxide remains unbroken when worn for a long period of time and tolerates moisture. These type of types are usually made from non-stretchable cotton or rayon with a Zinc Oxide adhesive.
